Took the laundry downstairs and flipped over the laundry basket, and screamed - Harold came running. There was my bird.
The cats do play in the laundry basket, but they really must have been playing to get him all the way to the bottom...
And if he was still upstairs, why was there some feathers on the main floor? They pulled out his feathers and playing with them I guess.
Heartache all over again. As Harold says, now I can have closure (and stop asking him every day if there is still the possibility he's alive), and we can have a burial.
I held him in my hands and stroked his feathers. The only time I've ever got to do that.

ok... I've been inside allll day doing volunteer stuff again... and half of yesterday too (between crying & searching for bird).
Even though I'm only about 75% done, I think I need to stop and have a drink and maybe even take the rest of the night off to rest up for work tomorrow...
I'm exhausted - mentally & emotionally.

I've given up hope now that he's alive -- mainly because Harold assures me that we would have found or heard him by now, and that I should accept that he's gone.
I don't see how the cats could have eaten him and not left a bunch of feathers indicating where the horrid event took place, but I guess we'll never really know.
I know it's not their fault - they're cats, but I can't help be upset when I see them and imagine them eating my bird. I'll get over it eventually.
Here's a video I shared on fb that is of Bunny and SweetPea playfighing. About 30 seconds in you can really hear Bellini start singing. I will treasure this video (whenever I actually tried to video Bellini singing he'd immediately stop!).

Baby grey squirrel has been hanging around outside our house lately. He's so cute and shy... (I took a pic the other day that I may get around to posting soon).
I am really enjoying watching him from my window here at the computer desk today. Helping a bit with my grief about the empty birdcage above me. *tears*

went out for a couple hours, came home and went upstairs to check email and Bellini's cage bottom is off - flung across the room and he's missing :(
Not many signs of feathers around. A few in the computer room (where his cage is) and a few in the bedroom, and then a few on the main floor...
Could they have eaten him??? ALL of him and leave no trace???
We're looking... still hoping he's around, but why are the cats acting like NOTHING at all has happened???
SOOOOOO UPSET!
I have a bad feeling we now have no birds :(

This is the first time I've felt relaxed in a loooooong time. What a great birthday weekend up here at the cottage. Birthday isn't till tomorrow (when it will be raining) but today was just wonderful and relaxing and just... ahhhhh.
I actually don't even care if it's raining tomorrow, because I'll still be relaxed inside on the couch (with cats!). Besides... I'm a bit sunburnt ;)
Just enjoyed a blueberry tea on the dock with Harold, and now going back up to the main cottage to play some games with the family :)
I really needed this!

Still drinking black tea this morning... This was the week I was going to stop the caffeine again after being on it for a couple of weeks - I really think it's affecting my sleep quality (which I'm not getting enough of anyhow!)
Anne says I should have "caffeine Monday's". Black tea only on Monday morning. I think it's a great idea!

Here we are in Montreal.
Arrived Wednesday around 5pm, and checked into our hotel. Embassy Suites - very nice room, tho some construction going on outside the window which can be annoying at times... The room has a king bed in a separate room (pocket doors to close it off), and a bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower and little spot just to do make-up which I surprisingly enjoyed quite a bit :) Pull out couch and two chairs in the livingroom, plus desk w internet. A kitchen with double sink, full size fridge and microwave. We've been eating a lot of food in, so the fridge and micro really help :)
Kinetic Festival is being held at a neat venue called Usine C (which Harold says to mean 'factory'). It's a pretty neat venue with all sorts of different levels. The main level has a coat check and the concert are, up a bit to the merchandise area (we bought a few shirts ;), up again to the fashion merchandise area, and down on the other side to a bar area with DVD playing of last years Festival (tho different sound). Then there is the outside area where you can go to get some fresh air (or smoke) including a BBQ area. The only thing about the concert area is the floor is all concrete, which is very hard on the feet. Especially my litte sensitive feet - ow. So I wore my big stompy platforms and by the end of the night my feet hurt soooooo bad. So it turns out I am having to wear my keen (sandals) which means not to wear my skirts/dresses I brought, and wear pants instead :( Oh well! Best to be comfortable and be able to see all the bands!
Thursday (opening night) we saw:

So... plans are to maybe go to the Biodome & see the Notre-Dame Sound & Light show. And of course get some Poutine (had to save that for our day off since it's likely I'll be sick afterward - what with the possibility of wheat in the gravy, plus cheese curds on greasy fries!)
Tomorrow is EBM night, then Monday we check out and head home.
Anyhow, having a great time :)

My friend Karen does a lot of work for the charity Willow, and has helped plan the event BID ON THE BOYS happening at the end of May.
It sounds like it will be a great event, and for a good cause.
Unfortunately it doesn't fall at a great time for me, and I can't go... though I did support the cause with some graphics help to her.

but but but... I don't get colds!!
It is true that I very rarely get colds, ever since that last bad one in October 2005 before I started seeing the Naturopath. And usually if I do get one it is very mild and short lived... but I think I may have one now. Either that or it's just bad allergies, which is very possible with all those trees budding out there. Maybe it's a combo of both? I had to skip yoga :((
UGH - I totally feel like crap tho! It's all in my head/sinuses, plus every morning for the past 5 days or so, a bit of sore throat in the morning.
Yesterday I got some cool stuffs to wear @ Kinetic in Montreal from both Futurestate and Plastik Wrap. I'll see if I feel well enough to post some pics. Maybe I will and just chop my stuffed up head out of the pics.
Today we are on a quest to find some boots! Gonna head downtown.
Better take an allergy pill. *sniffle* And some Emergen-C just in case.
